Remote position.

We are looking for a Junior QA Engineer to join our engineering team. You will work across multiple active projects, writing test cases, running regression cycles, and catching defects before they reach clients. This is a hands-on role with real ownership from day one, not a shadow role.

What you'll do

  • Write and execute manual test cases for web and mobile applications.

  • Document and track defects clearly in project management tools (Linear, Jira, or similar).

  • Perform functional, regression, and smoke testing on each release.

  • Collaborate with developers to understand features and identify edge cases.

  • Participate in sprint planning to estimate QA effort and flag risks early.

  • Work toward scripting automated test cases using Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of QA experience. Fresh graduates with strong testing fundamentals are welcome.

  • Understanding of SDLC and software testing methodologies.

  • Ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports that developers can act on without a follow-up call.

  • Basic familiarity with REST APIs and how to test them using Postman or similar.

  • Attention to detail and a mindset that finds problems before users do.

  • Good written English for async communication with engineers and PMs.

Good to have

  • Exposure to test automation (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).

  • Experience testing applications built on React or Next.js.

  • Familiarity with browser DevTools for debugging.

  • Uses AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent) for writing test cases, structuring bug reports, or identifying edge cases faster.

Hard filters - don't apply if

  • You have never used any defect tracking or project management tool (Jira, Linear, Trello, or similar).

  • You cannot write a reproducible bug report in plain English - one a developer can act on without a follow-up call.

  • You are not available to work full-time.

  • You are not willing to work across multiple concurrent projects.

  • You are looking for a role where QA work is handed to you with no expectation to read specs or ask questions independently.

How we work

Fully remote. Async-first: bug reports, test results, and sprint input are written, not called in. Flexible hours - we care about defect coverage and release quality, not when you logged in.

QA engineers here work across multiple active projects simultaneously. You read specs, identify what to test, write the cases, and raise issues before clients see them. There is no PM walking you through each build - you are expected to own your test coverage and flag risks early.

Annual offsite: the full team meets in person once a year.

Benefits

  • 5-day work week: healthy work-life balance, not just a talking point.

  • Fully remote: work from wherever suits you.

  • Your setup, your call: no office, no commute.

  • Flexible hours: we care about what ships, not when you log in.

  • Annual offsites: the whole team meets in person once a year.

Questions about this role

Yes. RaftLabs welcomes fresh graduates for the Junior QA Engineer role. The position requires 0-2 years of experience. Strong testing fundamentals, attention to detail, and clear written English matter more than years on a CV.
RaftLabs QA engineers use Linear or Jira for defect tracking and Postman for API testing. The team tests web and mobile applications built on React and Next.js, and junior engineers work toward automation using Playwright or Cypress.
Yes. The position is fully remote. RaftLabs has team members across India, France, Ireland, and the Philippines. The team communicates asynchronously, so clear written communication matters more than time zone. You set your own hours and are measured on the quality of what you catch, not when you log in.
The process involves a conversation about your testing approach and how you find bugs, a practical exercise reflecting real QA work, and a call with a founder. No trick questions - the exercise tests what you would actually do on the job.
