Remote position.

RaftLabs builds custom software for founders and product teams across the UK, EU, and North America. You will bridge the gap between client requirements and engineering delivery, running structured discovery sessions and producing specs that engineers can build from without a follow-up call.

What you'll own

  • Discovery: facilitate workshops and interviews with clients to surface real requirements beneath stated ones.

  • Documentation: produce BRDs, user stories, process flow diagrams, and acceptance criteria that are clear and ready to build from.

  • Scope definition: help define project scope at the outset and catch creep before it becomes a budget conversation.

  • Client communication: translate client language into engineering requirements and engineering constraints back into plain language.

  • Quality assurance: participate in UAT and confirm that delivery matches what you agreed with the client.

  • Data analysis: review existing workflows and data, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years in a business analyst or requirements engineering role at a software services or consulting company.

  • Has produced real BA outputs: BRDs, user stories, use cases, process maps - not just Jira ticket descriptions.

  • Client-facing experience: comfortable running requirements workshops and presenting findings to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong written English: your documentation represents RaftLabs to the client.

  • Async-first discipline: you move work forward without constant meetings and don't need to be chased.

  • Actively uses AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent) for research, drafting, and structuring discovery notes.

Hard filters - don't apply if

  • Your BA experience is entirely internal with no external client delivery.

  • You have never written a BRD or user story from scratch.

  • You need daily check-ins to stay on track.

  • AI tools are something you plan to use more, rather than something already in your stack.

How we work

Fully remote. Async-first: work moves through clear documentation and structured handoffs, not back-to-back meetings. Status updates, discovery notes, and client communication happen in writing, not over a call.

You are expected to write clearly, take full ownership of your deliverables without daily prompts, and use AI tools as a standard part of how you operate. The team already works this way.

Annual offsite: the full team meets in person once a year.

What success looks like

In the first 90 days: you have run at least two client discovery sessions independently, produced BRDs and user stories that engineering can build from without follow-up calls, and caught at least one scope issue before it became a budget conversation. Clients know your name and trust your outputs.

Over time: you are the first person a client calls when a requirement is ambiguous, and the last reason a delivery slips.

Benefits

  • 5-day work week: healthy work-life balance, not just a talking point.

  • Fully remote: work from wherever suits you.

  • Your setup, your call: no office, no commute.

  • Flexible hours: we care about what ships, not when you log in.

  • Annual offsites: the whole team meets in person once a year.

Questions about this role
